Get Up Get Out Get In! New Vic Borderlines is going on the road to encourage people looking for a fresh start to kick start the next chapter in their lives.
Working in partnership with Aspire Housing award-winning New Vic Borderlines, which works with some of Staffordshire’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people, is taking the Get Up Get Out Get In roadshow to North Staffordshire community venues from Monday13 August. The free workshops are open to all and will give participants the chance to break down the barriers which hold them back in life, rediscover forgotten talents and build confidence. Participants will also be given the opportunity to enter Aspire’s very own Dragon’s Den-style competition with professional support and mentoring up for grabs. New Vic Borderlines launched in 1999 and has since undertaken work of international significance and is acknowledged as a national beacon for the ways theatre can be used to work within the community. Sue Moffat, Director of Borderlines, will be leading the sessions. She said: “Get Up Get Out Get In is an opportunity for people to begin taking control of their own lives. “The idea is to work with people who might feel as if they are stuck, people who have been made redundant or people who aspire to achieve more. Sue added: “It’s about looking at what gets you up in the morning, what gets you out and what you want to achieve. “The sessions are open to all, so come along and discover your own strengths, talents and aspirations.” The roadshow takes place from 10am to 3pm (with a free light lunch included) at: Monday 13 August - Holly Road Community Centre, 8 Holly Road, Chesterton, ST5 7DJ Wednesday 15 August - Wye Road Community Centre, Wye Road, Clayton, ST5 4AZ Thursday16 August - Harriet Higgins Centre, Rotterdam Road, Poolfields, ST5 2PE Friday 17 August - Cross Heath Methodist Church Hall, King Street, Cross Heath, ST5 9HQ Monday 20 August - Butt Lane Community Centre, Lower Ash Road, Kidsgrove, ST7 1DG Tuesday 21 August – Newcastle-under-Lyme Library, 47 Ironmarket, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 1AT Wednesday 22 August - Knutton Methodist Church, High Street, Knutton, ST5 6DB Thursday 23 August - Silverdale Library, High Street, Silverdale, ST5 6LY
