Blazing a Trail

Exploring desert islands, venturing to faraway lands and taking tea with tigers - storytime is about to get very exciting with the New Vic’s Education team…

Children will soon be able to jump into the pages of their favourite books all year round as part of a New Vic storytime with a difference.

New Vic Education will be bringing stories to life when it rolls out its popular Tale Trail project in regular sessions in 2013.

The project, developed to encourage parents and carers to share stories with children, will give youngsters the chance to discover the delights of classic picture books in workshops using props to spark imagination.

Sarah Richardson, New Vic Education Practitioner, said: Tale Trail is all about giving children and their grown-ups a chance to explore stories together with the hope of inspiring a love of books from a young age.

“Our Christmas Tale Trail is very popular so we wanted to give children a similar experience all through the year.”

Launched in 2008, the National Year of Reading, Tale Trail originally began life in small workshops before developing into annual Christmas storytime extravaganzas with Tale Trail to A Christmas Carol and Tale Trail to Wonderland proving big hits with families and preschools.

Sarah added: Tale Trail is all about discovering the magical world of words – it’s going to be a fantastic adventure!”
