Double award nomination for New Vic! Two New Vic co-productions have been nominated for top honours in the prestigious Manchester Theatre Awards. Love’s Labour’s Lost, a co-production with Northern Broadsides, has been nominated for Best Visiting Production, while John Branwell is in the running for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Alfie, a co-production between the New Vic, Octagon Theatre Bolton, Oldham Coliseum and Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. The awards, the third biggest of their kind outside London, are judged by a panel of nine top regional critics who attend scores of productions each year.

Barrie Rutter, founder of Northern Broadsides and director of Love’s Labour’s Lost and, said: “I'm really thrilled that Northern Broadsides, the New Vic and Love’s Labour’s Lost have been short-listed at this year’s Manchester Theatre Awards. The company always loves visiting the Manchester and surrounding areas as we are always guaranteed enthusiastic audiences... even if we are a Yorkshire theatre company! “And by the way, the winning statuette of ' 96, needs a friend, books are falling off the shelf at t'other end!”
