New Vic named West Midlands Most Welcoming Theatre

The New Vic has been crowned the West Midlands Most Welcoming Theatre in the prestigious UK Theatre Awards.

The theatre-in-the-round was announced as one of 12 regional winners in the My Theatre Matters! Most Welcoming Theatre Award in association with Smooth Radio.

More venues than ever signed up to take part in this year’s award, with 256 theatres competing for the title which is decided upon by a public vote – this year 38,000 votes were cast in total.

The overall winner will be revealed at the UK Theatre Awards ceremony on Sunday 18 October at London’s historic Guildhall. – The awards are the only ones which celebrate outstanding achievement in theatre throughout the United Kingdom

The New Vic faces competition from Brookside Theatre, Romford, Buxton Opera House, Hackney Empire, Newcastle Theatre Royal, Lyric Theatre, Belfast, Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Clwyd Theatr Cymru and Sheffield Theatres.
