Home learners set for drama!

Participants perform their drama piece

Local home-educated children are beginning an exciting month of drama this week, courtesy of the New Vic Education team.  The group of 10-15 year olds have been invited to the theatre to take part in weekly workshops that will develop a whole host of new skills, as well as providing an opportunity to meet other young people.

Project Leader of the Home-Ed Group is the New Vic’s Head of Education Jill Rezzano: “The participants are out of school voluntarily – some children began school and made the decision to become home-educated for a variety of reasons; others have always been home-educated.”

“These young people always bring so much the building during their time here. In turn, they benefit from exploring creative ideas together with other young people in a group environment.”

Taking place over five weeks, the sessions have been arranged in partnership with home education umbrella group Education Otherwise to give children who are outside of school a taste of creative education through drama.
