Young theatre fans are discovering a magical Wonderland at the New Vic this Christmas courtesy of a spectacular story time with a difference.

Tale Trail to Wonderland is giving children the chance to jump into the pages of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland to experience the delights of the topsy-turvy world for themselves.

Led by the White Rabbit, the interactive session ventures into Wonderland where favourite characters from the classic tale are brought to life and children can even join the Mad Hatter for a tea party of their very own.

The project, developed by the New Vic Education department to encourage parents and carers to share stories with their children, has been designed by the same creative team who are currently wowing the crowds with the New Vic’s Christmas spectacular Alice in Wonderland.

The two week Tale Trail run is already going down a storm in its own right, with tickets sold out for all public performances.

Sarah Richardson, New Vic Education Practitioner, said: "With Tale Trail to Wonderland we aim to offer young children and their families and carers the opportunity to step inside a magical, exciting world full of surprises and experience Wonderland for themselves, just like Alice does when she falls down the rabbit hole. 

“Tale Trail gives our young audience and their grown-ups a chance to explore these stories together and we hope it will inspire in them a love of books and sharing stories and a love of theatre too."
