ELITE Theatre Company Daytrippers have ventured into their own Wonderland this festive season.

The group presented Daytrip to Wonderland in front of an enthusiastic New Vic audience last week.

Award-winning New Vic Borderlines teamed up with local community interest company ELITE earlier this year to found brand-new theatre group, Elite Theatre Company.

In just seven weeks members of the newly-formed group established their own company and using improvisation and object transformation developed stories with a vision of creating their own version of Wonderland.

Hard work paid off as audience members found out why the Red Queen is so cruel, discovered why Alice was hiding in a forest and explored why Wonderland is such a safe place to be with family.

New Vic theatre practitioner Julianna Skarzynska said: “In just seven weeks we have managed to create a proper company, establish relationships, develop stories and work together towards making our very own Wonderland.”

ELITE (Enabling Living Independently Today & Everyday) is a user-led organisation working to eliminate barriers that prevent disabled people from living full and independent lives.

It offers friendly, informal and confidential support to elderly, less-able, disabled people and carers in the community supporting independent living and community inclusion.
