Young People

We provide a range of activities at the theatre for young people aged 6-18! Whether you are interested in performing, lighting, devising theatre, bringing scripts to life, costume or musical theatre, we have something for you.

Our Saturday morning Drama Club is a chance to be creative, have fun and make new friends for ages 6-10. Our Youth Theatre runs after school and is for aged 10-18 year olds to create and explore theatre, develop skills and perform. Our Holiday Projects cover a range of areas from musical theatre to set designing. We also have a group for children who are home-educated to meet, develop new skills and share their learning. Drama Club

Our Saturday morning Drama Club sessions are a chance for children aged 6-10 to be creative, have fun and make new friends. Play drama games and improvise scenes, explore characters and create your own stories.

Day and time Age  
Saturday 10am - 11am 6-8 3 X £30 per 10 week term
Saturday 1.15 - 12.15 pm 8-10

 

Youth Theatre

Want to create, watch and explore theatre? New Vic Youth Theatre could be for you!  We offer weekly classes for 10-18 year olds developing theatrical skills, devising theatre, bringing scripts to life and performing pieces of theatre.

We run three 10 week terms from September to July.

 

Main Groups

These youth theatre groups focus on developing performance skills and having fun! Throughout the year we will devise theatre, create characters and bring scripts to life.

Autumn term will culminate in open sessions where parents and friends will be invited to the last session to see what each group has created. Summer term will conclude with all groups coming together for ‘Showback day’. All groups will perform their devised pieces in the auditorium on a Saturday in July.

Senior Youth Theatre

Senior Youth Theatre is for 16-18 to explore theatre. We will meet the professionals, create Theatre-in-Education, and devise a piece of theatre to perform at the Big Youth Theatre Festival.

Youth Theatre Show

This is an exciting opportunity to be in the cast of our mixed age Youth Theatre Show.

To be in this group you must attend an audition which takes place in September and be available on the performance dates.

Holiday Projects

Make this summer a drama!

Silly Scripts

From Shakespeare to Seuss (Dr!), Roald to Rowling explore all sorts of scripts over three days. And then create our own! 27-29 July (3 days) 10am-4pm 7-10 year olds £40 (concessions available)


Musical Theatre Week


Work with a director and a composer to devise and perform an original piece of musical theatre. Be involved in every part of the process from composing to performing!
The week finishes with a performance of your piece on Saturday 8th at 6pm.
3-8 August (6 days) 10am-5pm (Mon-Fri),
10am - 7.00pm Sat Show back 6pm Sat
12 -18 year olds
£75 (concessions £50)


Play in a fortnight!


Based on the popular Play in a Week, a fantastic opportunity to rehearse and stage a play in fortnight in our studio space! Work with a director to take a script written especially for young people from page to stage in two weeks with a performance at 6pm on the last Friday!
10 -14 and 17-21 August (10 days)10 -5pm (Mon-Fri)*
*Show back at 6pm on Friday 21 August
10 -16 year olds.
