Following our acclaimed 2003 production of East is East we’re delighted to have joined forces with the Octagon Theatre Bolton to produce Ayub Khan-Din’s latest comedy, Rafta Rafta. Based on Bill Naughton’s play All in Good Time, it became the hit 1960s film The Family Way starring John and Hayley Mills.
The wedding feast is over and the young couple has moved into his family’s two-up, two-down terrace. But how can they live happily ever after with his parents in the bedroom next door, his father’s constant disapproval and his brother’s childish pranks?
So, is it any wonder that, six weeks after the wedding, the groom still hasn’t managed to rise to the occasion? And, now that the whole world seems to know, how will the family live with the shame?
This warm-hearted tale of a beleaguered honeymoon is set in the Indian community of Bolton and is directed by Iqbal Kahn.
