But she’s playing a dangerous game. Shadowed by betrayal, threatened by revenge, can Barbara escape her wicked life? Or will she be abandoned to her terrible fate?
Viewer Review: The Wicked Lady |
“Set me free!” is the first echoing call from the depths of the house. It is the cry of a young girl suffocating under an arranged marriage and a stifling household. Lady Barbara (Roisin Gallagher) finds her own dangerous way to ‘fly’ her captivity; she becomes a highwayman! |
The unique staging of this play is multi-dimensional and the aerial work breathtakingly beautiful. The visual impact reinforces the story and heightens the impact of a melodrama with modern implications. The dexterity of the cast is delicious, characters change and scenes flow into each other before our eyes. The choral speaking and group sounds shading the light and dark of the story. |
This is unique, original, vibrant living theatre: and it is down at the New Vic! |
