"It’s a play I love because it resonates so strongly with my own life.  Although, I was brought up in South East London, the family in And A Nightingale Sang speak to each other in exactly the way my family did – entirely without listening to each other!  So for me it’s a play about how a family support each other through a crisis, something that is universal be it a family in Newcastle-upon-Tyne or our own Newcastle-under-Lyme!
