The New Vic’s much-loved ‘Tale Trail’ adventure show for young theatregoers and their families returns this Christmas with a sensory journey beneath the waves, Tale Trail to The Little Mermaid.
Suitable for children aged between 3 to 5 years, Tale Trail to The Little Mermaid will transport audience members into a magical underwater world from Tuesday 9 to Wednesday 24 December. Imbued with captivating colours, exciting textures and calming soundscapes, Tale Trail provides youngsters with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the magic of storytelling in a relaxed and accessible theatre environment.
Based on the classic fairytale of The Little Mermaid, this Christmas, little ones and their families are invited to join two mermaid sisters, Coralie and Delphie, as they venture through a stormy ocean to the mysterious land above the waves. Born with a keen sense of adventure, Coralie wants to go to the surface to meet the mysterious humans, but Delphie sees only trouble up above. We join their story as Coralie’s sense of adventure and curiosity and Delphie’s caution and fear are put to the test in the great storm.
A fully inclusive experience designed to allow young ones to explore their sense of play whilst letting their imaginations lead the way, Tale Trail is a fantastic introduction to the world of theatre and storytelling for preschoolers and their families.
New Vic Head of Education Jill Rezzano said: “This year’s Tale Trail invites our youngest audiences to swim into a world of colour and magic, as we meet two mermaids who need our help to keep their world safe and make sure the humans above don’t sail into danger!
Everyone is included in this undersea adventure, an accessible and interactive experience that immerses children in the world of our story and invites imagination to swim free. Can you use your fins to help us to find our way from water to dry land and back again?”
Tale Trail To The Little Mermaid will be performed at the New Vic from Tuesday 9 to Wednesday 24 December. For more information and to book visit newvictheatre.org.uk or call the Box Office on 01782 717962.
