New Vic Borderlines continue to push the boundaries of theatre, research and social impact with the presentation of a compelling new docudrama, Echoes of Justice, on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 May 2026.
Echoes of Justice is a powerful new piece of documentary theatre developed in partnership with the University of Huddersfield that draws on testimony from the 1945 Belsen war crimes trials.
Exploring how language, translation, and memory shape our understanding of truth and justice, the piece brings together three interconnected voices: a contemporary war crimes investigator, a young military policeman present at the liberation of Belsen, and a survivor who gathers and preserves testimony. Together, they reveal how words are carried, altered, and fought for – and what it means to truly be heard.
Leading the way in how theatre can be used as a tool for change and offering moments of reflection and hope for a peaceful future, Echoes of Justice blends verbatim material with creative interpretation to present audiences with the authentic lived experience of those affected by the Belsen war whilst also drawing attention to current conflicts happening throughout the world.
