The Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir

Sat 19 Dec

The Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir has been performing at the New Vic at Christmas for almost 40 years! It is their favourite concert of the year and a culmination of a full 12 months of rehearsal and performance in the U.K. and often abroad.

The Choir, affectionately known as “The Fron,” is a world-renowned four-part male voice choir from the village of Froncysyllte near Llangollen. Established in 1947, initially for the sole purpose of performing at the inaugural Llangollen Eisteddfod, the choir has a rich history of musical community spirit and they are still going strong to this day continuing to perform at prestigious venues and events.

Over the years, the Fron has achieved significant acclaim, including gold and double-platinum chart-topping Voices of the Valley albums and still hold the record for fastest-selling classical album ever!. Their repertoire spans a wide range of genres, from traditional Welsh hymns to contemporary classics, with a commitment to preserving the tradition of male voice choirs while embracing modern influences, the Fron continues to inspire and entertain, bringing the joy of choral music to diverse audiences.

With many sell-out performances to their name, they have performed with many other famous artists and have toured the world; they have also won the prestigious Male Voice Section in Llangollen 4 times, against choirs from Wales, England and all over the world, most recently in 2018, as well as many other competitions at home and abroad, bringing the sound of Wales wherever they go.
