A host of new events have been added to the New Vic’s 2027 programme including performances by world renowned musicians PP Arnold, Steeleye Span, The Blockheads and more; comedy shows hosted by Jack Dee and Kane Brown; tributes to classic artists including Black Sabbath and Joni Mitchell and a variety of other concerts that offer something for everyone to enjoy.
Two exceptional guitarists feature in the New Vic’s 2027 programme:Xuefei Yang, one of the world’s leading classical guitarists, known for her distinctive artistry and international career, will perform on Wednesday 13 January whilst later in the year one of the world’s greatest acoustic guitarists Martin Taylor MBE returns to the theatre with Stories & Strings on Tuesday 30 March – an evening of breathtaking music, fascinating stories and plenty of warmth and humour, drawn from a remarkable five-decade career alongside musical legends.
Award-winning poet, playwright, memoirist and broadcaster and one of Britain’s most celebrated spoken-word artists Lemn Sissay returns to the theatre on Friday 5 March as part of the New Vic’s Live Age Festival, followed by legendary rock band The Blockheads on Saturday 6 March.
Comedian Kane Brown bringshis fast wit, commanding stage presence and razor-sharp improvisational skills to the New Vic in a brand-new show bringing audiences a completely new comedy experience on Thursday 11 March and Jack Dee celebrates 40 years in standup comedy, in a show packed full of all his favourite old stories, jokes and hilarious anecdotes on Thursday 27 May.
Experience an unforgettable evening with London’s First Lady of Soul, P.P. Arnold on Friday 12 March. A true music legend, her six-decade career includes timeless hits such as The First Cut Is The Deepest and collaborations with Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. Expect powerhouse vocals, iconic songs, legendary stories and a night of pure soul.
Legendary ’70s folk-rock pioneers Lindisfarne return onSaturday 13 March fronted by original founder-member Rod Clements before Grammy-winning pianist Adam Wakeman leads Jazz Sabbath onMonday 5 April – an evening of exceptional musicianship that explores the boundaries between jazz and the songs that defined heavy metal, revisiting existing jazz riffs and discovering new ones.
Continuing the music theme, one of the world’s most-respected musicians Andy Fairweather Low and his band The Low Riders return onMonday 12 April performing hits including Bend Me Shape Me, Hello Suzy and (If Paradise is) Half As Nice. Celebrating the wonderful work of Kate Bush Cloudbusting: The Kate Bush Songbook takes to the stage onTuesday 20 April featuring stunning arrangements of some lesser-known tracks as well as many of the hits including Wuthering Heights, Babooshka, Hounds of Love and Cloudbusting.
Folk legends Steeleye Span celebrate their latest album Conflict which, as with tradition, brings together modern and self-composed pieces alongside old songs on Wednesday 12 May. In this concert, hear a selection of songs from across the years including firm fan favourites.
Former lead singer of The Beautiful South Briana Corrigan brings an intimate evening of stories and song on Monday 17 May and community music organisation MADULA return to the New Vic for their annual showcase on Monday 24 May.
Finally, TV presenter and filmmaker Robbie Cumming presents Canal Boat Stories onMonday 27 September. Robbie is known all over for exploring hard to reach canals, overcoming various mishaps and sharing the real side of living on a boat in his six TV series to date. His fun and interactive evening of canal themed escapism has captured the imagination of fans of canals, alternative living and storytelling.
