Gaslight

Friday 20 September–Saturday 5 October 2013

A New Vic production

by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Sarah Punshon

A nervous wife, an anxious husband, a haunting husband. This chillingly irresistible thriller is a classic of theatre.  A West End sensation – even King George and Queen Elizabeth insisted on seeing it – and the longest running British play in Broadway history.

Bella Manningham is slowly losing her mind. Her gloomy home has become a prison. Each night, she sits alone, dreading the sound of footsteps from locked and empty rooms, waiting for the gaslight to dim.

Then, late one evening, a stranger arrives with a terrifying story to tell. But can he be trusted? Is he really here to help? Or is she truly going mad?
