Society of Staffordshire Artists
(SSA)
The Society was founded in 1933 and held its first public exhibition in 1994 at the Stoke-on-Trent City Gallery in Hanley. The Society has a rich history, with its first exhibition dating back 90 years. It aims to foster and encourage talent within the county and to showcase the best artwork produced by its members.
It has within its ranks some of the most accomplished and well respected names in the Staffordshire art world; both professional and non-professional. Throughout its history the focus of the society, has been both inclusive and encouraging––offering opportunities to develop as practitioners and exhibit in an ever–increasing number of exhibitions each year. The Society organises courses, painting and drawing days, gallery visits along with talks and social activities.
This exhibition brings together artists from a wide range of backgrounds, disciplines and traditions.
The works on display include textiles, oil paintings and acrylic paintings along with watercolours.
