Marking the first one-night event at the theatre post-lockdown, the award-winning, internationally acclaimed Ballet Cymru return to the New Vic this October with a poignant and bold production of Giselle.

This beautiful story of love and loss has been transformed into an extraordinary new ballet, visiting the New Vic for one night only on Monday 4 October.

Giselle tells of the tragedy of a young girl who falls in love with the wrong person and pays a terrible price. Combining spellbinding music and magical choreography alongside visual projections to bring the story to vivid life, it is an unforgettable evening of dance, reimagining one of the most romantic ballets of all time with new relevance, poignancy and grittiness.

With the unique stamp of Ballet Wales running through its veins, this adaptation features a new score by international composer and harpist Catrin Finch, interwoven with mesmerizing movement by Ballet Cymru Artistic Director Darius James OBE and Assistant Artistic Director Amy Doughty.

Ballet Cymru are a group of dancers who are pushing back the barriers of classical ballet. Using powerful and timeless stories, they interpret some of the finest characters in literature. The company’s latest show is an opportunity to relish some of the best dance direct from Wales, in the unique in-the-round setting of Staffordshire’s New Vic.
