New Vic Borderlines’ Happy and Glorious project extended following success engaging with 2,000 local people

1st November 2022

Happy and Glorious, a project to celebrate Queen Elizabeth IIs reign during her Platinum Jubilee year, has successfully engaged over 2,000 local people, including 250 primary school children and members of six community groups, and has now been extended until March 2023.

New Vic Borderlines’ creative project, made possible thanks to funding from the Platinum Jubilee Fund, has seen performances and works of art created to reflect themes including peace, belonging, community and what it means to be a model citizen take place across the year.

Four of the seven projects undertaken this year are now complete including the Platinum Jubilee Peace Garden created outside at the New Vic, Newcastle in Bloom gardens which were planted in three local schools, a promenade performance in Rugeley, and drama work of the Young Platinum Theatre Company (YPTC).

Filming from this month will record the progress of the Happy and Glorious projects. Three other projects in conjunction with Middleport Matters, Minnie Pit, and Walk Talk Action in Fen Park continue to take place.
