NEW VIC BORDERLINES HONOURS ARMED SERVICES DAY WITH CARD ALPHA PERFORMANCE

21st June 2021

New Vic Borderlines has teamed up with the Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme to preview its Card Alpha drama in honour of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 26 June.

The project raises awareness of the experiences of veterans when they leave the armed forces and enter civilian life. Created using aural and written testimony, with poetry and images from local veterans, the drama is an exploration of post-traumatic stress disorder caused by war. It will be performed by London School of Musical Theatre graduate Shannon Whetnall and John Thacker (No Offence, Channel Four; The Jury, The Brindley Theatre, Runcorn).

New Vic Borderlines Director Sue Moffat said: “This original presentation has been developed in partnership with the Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre and looks at the challenges veterans face as individuals following their selfless commitment, and that we face as a society in order to support them and pay them proper respect and thanks for the service they have given.”

Following the preview, the piece will be developed further with a view to touring later in the year in the lead-up to Armistice Day.

Please note this performance is by invitation only and not open to the general public.
