NEW VIC FAVOURITE ‘ERIC’ SERVES UP ANOTHER SIXTIES SUMMER TREAT IN ERIC IN DOWNTOWN ABBEY

25th June 2026

David Graham Productions’ legendary character ‘Eric’ returns to the New Vic this August with a new show, Eric In Downtown Abbey, opening onSaturday 22 August and running until Saturday 5 September.

Renowned for his comedic escapades and foot-tapping musical shows, David Graham Productions’ ‘Eric’ is a much-loved character at the New Vic.

This summer, Eric In Downtown Abbey transports audiences into the remote Staffordshire countryside where Eric and his loyal partner Bev have found work in a run-down stately home. However, when household treasures start to go missing the new arrivals soon find themselves in trouble with the other staff members. Is Eric guilty of the thefts? Can Bev win the landowners over with her veal and chocolate pie? Will there be plenty of ’60s hits played through the evening? The answers to these questions are ‘maybe’, ‘no’ and ‘yes’ – but not necessarily in that order!

Set to a superb live soundtrack featuring plenty of audience favourites from the ’60s, lots of brilliant comedy, and some larger-than-life characters, Eric In Downtown Abbey is the perfect way to round off the summer season at the New Vic.

David Graham, producer and star of the ‘Eric’ shows, said: “I first wrote Eric In Downtown Abbey thirteen years ago when Downton Abbey was a current TV programme. However, when I looked at it again I realised there were very few references which made that link essential. Eric is constantly unemployed and looking for a job, Bev is always looking for opportunities to better herself and the rest of the cast are so brilliantly adaptable they can play anyone! A few updates, a couple of upgrades in the cast, some better jokes and some new songs and it’s as fresh as ever. I hope! See what you think.”
