New Vic Artistic Director Theresa Heskins said: “When we started making Around The World In 80 Days for the stage, our ambition was to invite New Vic audiences to come with us on an amazing journey of imagination. We didn’t realise at that point that it would become a real journey too, or that it would meet audiences from so many parts of the world. And we didn’t dream that wherever we went, audiences would respond with the same joy as those first audiences at the New Vic. For our fortieth anniversary, it’s such a pleasure to bring it back where it started.”
A high-spirited, fast-moving escapade filled with Victorian eccentricity, romance and derring-do, eight actors play a total of 109 characters in this ambitious, action-packed story that follows the journey of Phileas Fogg as he attempts to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. Joined by his trusty valet Passepartout, his journey takes him through the atmospheric alleyways of Victorian London, across the subcontinent and through the Wild West, travelling by any means necessary in a race against the clock.
Around The World In 80 Days opens at the New Vic on Saturday 23 May and runs until Saturday 13 June 2026. For more information visit newvictheatre.org.uk or call the New Vic Box Office on 01782 717962.
