E. M Parry

Designer

E. Mallin Parry trained at Motley and Wimbledon School of Art, and is currently pursuing a PhD in performance and queer studies at the University of Brighton. They are a previous winner of the Jocelyn Herbert Award and a Linbury Prize finalist. Mallin is an Associate Artist at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Recent designs include: Hamlet, As You Like It (Shakespeare’s Globe); Translyria (Sogn og Fjordane Teater, Norway); Effigies of Wickedness (Gate Theatre/ENO); Rotterdam (Arts Theatre, West End, /59E59 Theatres, NY /Trafalgar Studios, West End, national tour 2019 – Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre, 2017); Grimm Tales (Unicorn Theatre); Sketching (Wilton’s Music Hall); Peter Pan (Northcott Theatre); The Magna Carta Plays (Salisbury Playhouse); Here I Belong, Milked, Each Slow Dusk (Pentabus, touring); Posh (Nottingham Playhouse/Salisbury Playhouse); The Miser (Watermill Theatre); The Nightmares of Carlos Fuentes (Arcola Theatre); Without You (Menier Chocolate Factory. Co-designer with Timothy Bird); La Liberazione di Ruggiero (Brighton Early Music Festival); El Niño (Spoleto Opera Festival, USA. – associate designer); Neige (Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg); Noye’s Fludd (Southbank Centre); The Fairy Queen (Brighton Theatre Royal).

Forthcoming work includes: the Globe’s 2019 summer season revival of As You Like It. From August 2019 – January 2020 their work will be seen at the V&A Museum as part of the Staging Places exhibition, recognising the work of contemporary British theatre designers.
