Electric Dreams

By William Shakespeare
Directed by Kate Allerston
Musical Direction by Chris Bastock

A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets the 80s in this ‘Totally Awesome’ Musical Shakespeare production from A Place for Us Theatre Company.

The theatre explodes into colour and chaos with Electric Dreams – an exhilarating 80s musical adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, powered by a live band and iconic soundtrack from the decade that defined excess!

This isn’t just Shakespeare with a twist, it’s a full throttle theatrical experience where the Bard’s original text collides with neon lights, sequins and the unmistakable pulse of real 80s anthems.

Think rock diva fairies with attitude, a group of amateur actors with 80s cheese, star crossed lovers with Walkmans and a forest alive with a kinda magic!

Accompanied by a live band playing the music of the Eurythmics, Bonnie Tyler, Heaven 17, Irene Cara, The Weather Girls and more, Electric Dreams invites you into a magical world where rules bend, chaos reigns and everything shimmers under a haze of neon.

No rewrites – pure Shakespeare, wired into the spirit of the decade that believed more was more and more meant magic!

Critics have called it a ‘…a must-see show. Few could combine Shakespeare and 80s rock music and make it work. Not only do they make it work, they make it thrive…a magical experience for everyone…Outstanding!’ (Theatre Digest)
