Owing to damage caused by Storm Dave recently, the New Vic are carrying out some urgent repair work to the theatre’s roof across the next few weeks.
Scaffolding has been erected around the theatre building, including across the main entrance and pathway leading from the car park to the main foyer.
The theatre remains open and accessible but designated pathways are in place to ensure customers can access the theatre safely. Customers visiting during the works are also advised that traffic flow to the on-site car park may be slightly slower than usual and it is recommended to allow a little extra time for your journey whilst the roof is under repair.
The repair work is due to be completed by mid-June.
As a charitable organisation, support from businesses and individuals is vital to the New Vic. Much hard work goes into maintaining the upkeep and running of this much-loved building – Europe’s first purpose-built theatre-in-the-round – allowing us to continue to share world-class theatre and life-changing education and community programmes to thousands of local adults and children every year.
As the theatre celebrates its special 40th anniversary in 2026, we are looking forward. Our 40th Anniversary Appeal offers an opportunity to support the great work we do and ensure that the New Vic is here for generations to come.
