New Vic Education signs up for major youth theatre festival

9th October 2015

New Vic Education is set to take part in National Theatre Connections in 2016 performing Bryony Lavery and Frantic Assembly’s It Snows.

For the second year running, young New Vic performers will take centre-stage in the festival which features 5,000 young people from more than 200 UK youth theatre companies and schools. Next year marks the 21st anniversary of the festival and will see schools and youth theatres stage 12 plays picked from more than 150 the programme has commissioned since 1995.

It Snows will be performed in the New Vic Studio in March before transferring to the Derby Theatre.

New Vic Education is now looking for a cast of 15 to 19-year-olds to take part. Dance or movement experience is advantageous but not essential. Auditions will be announced in the near future.

Katherine Hughes, New Vic Youth Theatre Director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to take part in NT Connections for the second year running. It is a brilliant opportunity for to be part of a major festival.

“Bryony Lavery already has strong connections with the New Vic so we are thrilled to have the chance to perform one of her pieces specifically written for young people.”
