NEW VIC BORDERLINES EMBRACE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

13th May 2025

New Vic Borderlines are hosting a series of free and accessible arts-based workshops to support wellbeing and encourage creativity during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Yesterday, our Borderlines department collaborated with the Wellbeing College to deliver an Anxiety workshop at the New Vic. Combining the Wellbeing College’s learning-based approach with Borderlines’ arts-based activities, participants learned how the arts can be an expressive tool to increase confidence, manage emotions and explore new coping strategies to handle stress.

Tomorrow, on Wednesday 14 May, Borderlines’ Next Chapter group and Young People’s Theatre Company will be exploring what it means to be part of a ‘community’ through workshops and theatre-based activities. Attendees are invited to share stories and get stuck into fun activities during the open session from 10am – 12pm. The group will also be taking their techniques out into the community, delivering workshops in the local area that reinforce the importance of building safe and positive environments.

New Vic Borderlines Director Susan Moffat said We are delighted that our Next Chapter company will be taking their ambitions to support Mental Health Awareness Week out into the community to run uplifting creative workshops celebrating community and the role community in plays supporting mental health and well-being.  In addition, some of our Next Chapter group will be at the theatre running an open session on Wednesday 14th May which people are invited to drop into.’
