NEW VIC BORDERLINES HOST INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS THIS FEBRUARY HALF-TERM

12th February 2026

This February half-term, New Vic Borderlines are hosting a series of interactive workshops for families including:

  • Yes Let’s: an interactive den-making workshop that allows families with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to explore their creativity, develop social skills and build confidence in a free, accessible and safe environment.
  • Fab Food and Financial Folktales: a popular family-focused event touring to venues and community groups across Staffordshire to combat holiday hunger.

Taking place at the New Vic on Monday 16, Tuesday 17 and Thursday 18 February, Yes Let’s allows SEND families to participate in a unique den-making workshop that encourages creative thinking and sensory engagement.

Funded by Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Aiming High programme, Yes Let’s provides lots of fun for participants as well as a short break from a daily routine for the entire family as they are encouraged to use fabrics, textures and soundscapes to create and decorate dens.

In addition, New Vic Borderlines’ popular family-focused event Fab Food and Financial Folktales will be performed as part of the Yes Let’s workshops at the New Vic as well as appearing at Stafford North End Community Centre on Wednesday 18 February and Burton Queen Street Community Centre on Friday 20 February to combat holiday hunger.

A free event designed to encourage open discussions about finances within the community and integrate food aid as part of a holiday support initiative, Fab Food and Financial Folktales aims to address financial challenges faced by local families by using folk tales and fun creative activities to explore money management skills, build social connections, foster friendships and provide a greater sense of wellbeing for members of the community.

Designed to inspire attendees to budget, plan, and enjoy the cooking process together as a family, the project aims to provide members of the community with the tools they need to help avoid financial issues whilst enjoying creative and musical storytelling right on their doorstep.

Funded by HSBC, Fab Food and Financial Folktales sees hundreds of lunches distributed to families in need throughout the school holidays each year and has become a firm tradition in the Borderlines’ calendar.
