New Vic Borderlines’ popular family-focused event Fab Food and Financial Folktales will be touring venues and community groups across Staffordshire from Monday 27 October to Saturday 1 November to combat holiday hunger.
A free interactive event designed to encourage open discussions about finances within the community and integrate food aid as part of a holiday support initiative, Fab Food and Financial Folktales aims to address financial challenges faced by local families by using folk tales and fun creative activities to explore money management skills, build social connections, foster friendships and provide a greater sense of wellbeing for members of the community.
Drawing inspiration from the classic story of Hansel and Gretel, three actors will perform a modified version of the well-loved fairy tale for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy whilst distributing food parcels containing sandwiches, treats and activity books to take home.
Designed to inspire attendees to budget, plan, and enjoy the cooking process together as a family, the project aims to provide members of the community with the tools they need to help avoid financial issues whilst enjoying creative and musical storytelling right on their doorstep.
Funded by HSBC, Fab Food and Financial Folktales sees hundreds of lunches distributed to families in need throughout the school holidays each year and has become a firm tradition in the Borderlines’ calendar.
Fab Food, Fun and Financial Folktales will be touring venues across Staffordshire from Monday 27 October to Saturday 1 November 2025. For more information email rreddihough@newvictheatre.org.uk or message the New Vic Borderlines Facebook page HERE.
