NEW VIC FAVOURITE MICHAEL HUGO RETURNS TO OUR STAGE WITH CAPTAIN AMAZING READING

This October New Vic favourite Michael Hugo (The 39 Steps, Around the World in 80 Days, and most recently Coppelia – A Mystery) will channel his inner superhero to perform a rehearsed reading of Alistair McDowall’s touching play Captain Amazing.

Even superheroes can’t fix every tragedy, especially those that happen closest to home. While Captain Amazing is busy defeating super-villains and rescuing others from difficult situations, he struggles to balance his family responsibilities and more conventional job.

First performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, this moving and humorous play looks at how one man strives to be a ‘superhero’ in the eyes of his daughter to break free from the responsibility and challenges of everyday life.

Directed by Caroline Wilkes, Captain Amazing will be performed by Michael Hugo as an hour-long intimate script-in-hand reading in the New Vic auditorium.

Please note: contains some strong language and adult themes.
