Saturday 14 July 2018

A fun-filled day of performances and activities

FREE

Brampton Park

We’re pitching a Big Top tent and filling Brampton Park with a whole variety of FREE, fun-filled performances and activities to celebrate the magical phenomenon of circus!

Marking the 250th Anniversary of the invention of circus in the town where Philip Astley – father of modern day circus was born, this free event is a perfect day out for all the family!

Bring the whole family on the day and:

  • Marvel at Corey Pickett’s ‘Silent Show’ – the loudest silent street show you will ever see, combining circus, music and physical theatre for a brilliantly bonkers performance!
  • Get involved in Workshops with Circus Sensible – learn how to juggle, attempt to spin a plate and find out who in your family can Hula Hoop the longest in these circus skills workshops. All ages welcome!
  • Witness exhilarating fire juggling from Paul Silver – whose mix of astounding fire juggling, stilt walking and humourous comedy will delight all
  • Enjoy Performance poetry – written by a host of writers including Stephen Seabridge, Poet Laureate for the City of Stoke-on-Trent, and performed and produced by the New Vic and Hikapee Circus Theatre
  • Dance along to Live Music from Jake Leg Jugg Band – whose acoustic Jazz, Blues & Ragtime sounds are the perfect accompaniment to this action packed day

Plus: Face Painting, Balloon Modelling, Circus Crafts

All ages can enjoy this FREE day of events. So, pack a picnic and join us at Brampton Park to celebrate the 250th anniversary of circus in style!
