The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart

By David Greig
Directed by Anna Marsland

A delicious play filled with wit, spellbinding music and devilish encounters, The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart is a journey of self-discovery that will enchant your imaginations and take you into a magical world where anything is possible, but nothing is as it seems.

In the depths of midwinter, in the snowy Scottish Borders, cautious academic Prudencia Hart finds herself trapped inside her own personal hell – at a pub lock-in, where drink is flowing freely, revellers are revelling and all around her people are singing their own Border Ballads. As attentions turn to Prudencia, she escapes from the lock-in, seeking to take refuge at the local B&B.

The snow is falling thickly but when she encounters a friendly stranger who offers to help, it looks like she’ll find her way back to the warm. What she’s not expecting is to find herself at the edge of reality… The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart won a Herald Angel award at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a Critics’ Award for Theatre in Scotland 2010-2011 and a 2017 Drama Desk award.
